Project Overview

The goal was to create a piece of environmental typography—type that exists in an environment. A successful project would consist of a quote or statement of the words enhancing the environment, and the environment supports and enhances the content of the words. The requirement was to consider the message, the place, and how people will experience the type.

Explanation

In a team consisting of a fellow graphic design student; we created environmental typography with NeverWet sealing spray. The idea was for the quotes to be hidden in sunlight, and when it rains they would become visible. We created stencils using Adobe Illustrator and a Silhouette Cameo vinyl machine.

Although we are pleased with the outcome, the process was very in-depth and back and forth. Originally, as a team, we wanted to use inspiration from Stefan Sagmeister and bring an intriguing perspective into our concept. Plans fell through due to budget expenses and how large the idea became. Ultimately, we decided it would be best to move away from the idea and that is how we found a creative way to use NeverWet sealing spray.
