Project Overview
The Rotunda is a news-source magazine designed and published each week and distributed around the Longwood University campus. I am the former assistant layout editor and created every front cover from August 2017 to December 2017, along with laying out pages in the editions each week.
These are a few front covers, inside pages, and turf signs from a few editions. The turf signs are a redesign of the front covers to display outdoors around campus. These are simply mockups of the magazine and not actually in the same order as they were printed for the edition.

Each week the layout editor and I keep a base template for the headlines, sub-headlines, bylines and the body content. Next we add in the photos for the articles and base our layouts from that. Our struggles consist of text-heavy content so adjusting the page to have them as photo-heavy as possible is always a goal. Sometimes there is not enough photos to fill the page, so we often create pull quotes to adjust empty space.
