Project Overview
I chose a period in graphic design history and designed an accordion-fold book promoting the use of a typeface characteristic of that period. The content includes history, visual characteristics and technical details.
Explanation
I chose Futura because it is a typeface I have frequently used in past designs, so I have always been interested in the font. I wanted my viewers to experience the different variations of Futura on the front and save the history and larger text content for the backside. I wanted to include a panel on type anatomy and 'how to spot' guide because it informs my audience how exactly to find Futura in use. Incorporating an everyday uses panel was also important to me because I wanted to show how diverse the Futura typeface is in our world today.

My progress was fairly straightforward, however, I experienced setbacks in the research phase. Deciding between certain points of history regarding this typeface proved to be challenging because I wanted the most relevant information in my accordion-fold book. I acquired an extensive amount of research, all of which was relevant to me and the progression of my book, however I needed to decide what my audience needed to know.
